Foday pick-up truck in Malaysia – RR face, D-Max base

Yet another Chinese pick-up truck is coming to Malaysia, after the Great Wall Wingle 5, ZX Auto Grandtiger and Bison Savanna a.k.a. Foton Tunland. Our regular spies Anol Alias and Apexkit recently sent in pics of this truck on test at JPJ, and it’s from a brand called Foday.

Made by Guangdong Foday Automobile Co Ltd in the southern Chinese province, the Foday NHQ 1029 wears an “Improved by Hong Seng Group” sticker. Based in Penang, Hong Seng Group is a company dealing with trucks, generators and heavy machinery, and the Foday appears to be their first foray into the private vehicle segment.

All trucks look the same? Not in the case of the Foday, which has a Range Rover-inspired face. The basic shape and interior tells us that the truck has more in common with the previous-gen Isuzu D-Max than the previous-gen luxury 4X4 from Britain, though. The 4X2 Foday is powered by a 2.5 litre commonrail turbodiesel engine with 109 hp and 300 Nm of torque, paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Click on the brochure scan below to see the full spec list. Both the Great Wall Wingle 5 and Bison Savanna are priced around the RM70k mark in 4X2 form. How low can Foday go?
